How to save electricity and improve your energy efficiency

Save Electricity Improve Energy Efficiency | AM Transformers

Home appliances such as refrigerators are one of the biggest consumers of electricity in a household.

Chances are, if your home appliances are more than 10 years old, they may be keeping your running costs and energy consumption higher than many modern electrical appliances. This is because most modern models are designed to be more power saving and energy efficient to meet the demands of increasingly eco-friendly households.

Although switching to energy efficient appliances can help you save money on utility bills, many households can’t afford to replace all their appliances in one go. Therefore, it may be worth reviewing your current electric appliances and replacing the ones that guzzle the most energy. You can do this by using an energy cost calculator to work out the yearly running costs of your fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine or electric oven.

By comparing your current machines with newer models on the market, you can identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and cut your energy bill. You can find energy cost calculator tools online – many of which are free and easy to use!

Improving home efficiency

Energy efficiency rating

Many showrooms display white goods and other home electrical appliances with EU energy efficiency labels. These labels are designed to show customers the energy efficiency rating of a model, which is great if you’re looking to replace your old appliances for cheaper to run and greener alternatives.

Using the EU energy-efficiency rating to compare models

The EU label rates the product based on its energy consumption, with A+++ being the most energy efficient and D being the least efficient. The label also lists the annual energy consumption of the product along with other specific product information that will help shoppers find the right electrical appliance for their needs.

Washing machines, tumble dryers, fridges, freezers, electric ovens, air conditioning and energy saving light bulbs commonly feature energy efficiency labels, however they are not comparable across different appliances as the EU rating has been calculated specifically for that appliance range.

Energy-saving products

If replacing your home appliances isn’t an option, there are still ways you can reduce your utility bill. Energy-saving products such as CFLs (compact fluorescent lamp) are 4 times more energy efficient than incandescent light bulbs and are widely available.  Such small changes can make a big difference in the long run, providing ways to save electricity and reduce your electricity bill.

Our aim at AM Transformers is to provide the right information and support to streamline your energy management.  As specialist UK suppliers of transformers and voltage optimisation devices, including 3 phase transformers, our whole business is founded on helping you reduce energy wastage and money spent on unused electricity.

How to Avoid Over Voltage and Prolong Equipment Lifetime

Avoid Over Voltage | AM Transformers

Breakdown or electoral faults with large equipment can disrupt business operations, causing safety hazards and may have costly implications.

Installing high-efficiency electrical transformers for heavy load equipment on continuous duty is one reliable method of reducing energy consumption and achieving greater economical results, whilst helping preserve the integrity of your equipment. This could significantly improve the life expectancy of electronic equipment.

But how?

Let’s start with voltage…

As a result of European Harmonisation in 1995, the declared electricity supply in the UK is now 230V with a tolerance of +10% to -10%.

Most electrical equipment manufactured for the UK is rated at 220V but may operate satisfactorily at voltages down to 200V. As the average voltage supplied from the national grid in mainland UK is 242V, without voltage optimisation technology to step down the voltage, over – voltage can occur.

This is when voltage, higher than the equipment is designed to operate on, is supplied. Sub-sequentially energy consumption goes up with no improvement in performance or economical benefit.  In fact over voltage be a large contributing factor to the reduction in equipment lifetime.

According to the 17th edition of the Electricians Guide BS7671, “A 230V rated lamp used at 240 has will achieve only 55% of its rated life”. By efficiently bringing supply voltages to the lower end of the statutory voltage range, you could yield average energy savings of around 13%. This is also a great step towards prolonging the life of the connected equipment.

Voltage optimisation technology

Where there is a national problem of over voltage, Voltage Optimization / Voltage Power Optimisation is a particularly effective means of saving energy and money in the UK, for both industrial users and domestic energy consumers.

Once again according to the Electricians Guide BS7671,  “A 230V linear appliance used on a 240V supply will take 4.3% more current and will consume almost 9% more energy.”

In industries using high energy loads for arduous equipment, three phase transformers are commonly used for 3 phase power supply systems, to step up or step down voltage. These energy saving devices ensure equipment is supplied with the lower end of the statutory voltage range to enable optimal performance with maximum energy efficiency.

Where 3 phase transformer are primarily used to step up or down voltage, Transformers voltage stabilizers are an effective solution to voltage fluctuation problems, as they are designed to accept a wide range of input voltage but maintain a specified output voltage to within +/- 1.0%. Voltage stabilisers can also be designed for three phase and single phase supply.

As a specialist UK Transformer Manufacturer and supplier of Mains Transformers and AC/DC Power Adaptors, we supply literally hundreds of thousands of wound components. Providing a high degree of technical support, including specialist power supply sub-assembly services, we can design and manufacture virtually any size Summer of single or 3 phase transformer or recommend the right voltage optimisation device for your requirement.

Three Phase Transformers – the basics

3 Phase Transformers The Basics | AM Transformers

3 phase transformers are commonly used for energy distribution, especially in industrial facilities with когда big equipment – but why?

By carrying 3 alternating currents of the saving same frequency and voltage, the total amount of power supplied by a 3 phase electric power system remains constant. This is because each phase is synced to reach its peak at in one third of a cycle.

This consistency in power delivery is highly efficient, providing many electrical advantages and making it more economical, as it uses less conductor material and reduces the amount of electrical energy lost to resistance.

Therefore it makes sense to leverage 3 phase power systems in industrial settings that require cheap mlb jerseys high energy loads.

Electrical Transformers

Since three-phase systems are often used for power distribution systems, three-phase transformer devices are commonly used throughout industry to step-up or step-down voltage. This helps to achieve energy efficiency through voltage optimization, whilst ensuring the right voltage is delivered for various electrical equipment and devices.

It is vital the transformer type is compatible with the electrical wholesale nba jerseys supply system – incorrect connection can cheap jerseys from China damage equipment whilst being highly dangerous!

Whilst three phase transformers can be constructed from 3 individual single phase transformers connected together, preassembled 3 phase transformer devices are smaller, lighter and cheaper. This is because the copper and iron are used more Management effectively, mounted into one single device, unlike their modular counterparts.

As 3 phase transformer suppliers, we currently manufacture 3-phase transformers from 50VA up to 2MVA. As Women our aim is to supply high quality, reliable transformers, we can manufacture virtually any size of single or three phase transformer, dependant on voltage, with any type of termination incorporated into the design.

By choosing the right electrical devices for your requirements, you can save money, reduce your energy consumption and protect your equipment.

If you have any special requirements or simply need some guidance on selecting the right electrical devices – why not talk to our technical team?!
